Lauren Nicholas is an abstract mixed media artist based in Melbourne, known primarily for her vivid gestural works depicting conversations of colour, form and negative space. Seeking stimulation from new encounters, finding beauty in the unnoticed and the idiosyncrasies of human condition, inspiration is gathered from daily encounters of indefinable moments, intangible thoughts and concealed emotions. Imagery and matter imprinted on the subconscious mind are depicted by blurring the boundaries between abstract and representational forms.
Enamal, Acrylic, graphite and paint marker on wood.
This work represents the nameless and faceless amoungst crowds. The endless waves of people that you see, but don't see. The physical attributes of these figures fade and merge as they come and go, lost indefinitely amongst the masses.
